Connecting The Dots

A message from Jennifer Bessell, NLOWE CEO

NLOWE has supported women entrepreneurs launching new businesses and competing in the marketplace for twenty-five years. Originally called the Women’s Enterprise Bureau, it worked to remove the barriers excluding women from the entrepreneurial space. Since then, there has been both a name change and a change in philosophy. The Women’s Enterprise Bureau became the Newfoundland and Labrador Organization for Women Entrepreneurs (NLOWE). Our focus expanded to provide greater access to resources, tools, and support that women need to achieve your business goals.

Connecting the right dots can be the difference between a venture that succeeds and one that doesn’t.

Today NLOWE offers something unique to our members: a regional lens. Many credible institutions have countless blogs and online resources—but they can’t help you connect the dots. You’re left on your own to figure out your market’s environmental or demographic conditions, whether you should be aware of any laws or regulations, and how much you should charge for your work or what your peers are getting paid.

NLOWE sees the bigger picture. We’re more than a membership organization—we’re a community—a place to share ideas and connect with other women in the entrepreneurial space.

Are you considering expanding your products and services? We can connect you to resources for insight into new markets, industries, and trends you need to know. Do you want to talk to someone with whom you can share experiences and perspectives? We can connect you with a mentor who can support you in reaching your business goals. Do you want to grow your professional network? Mastermind, NLOWE’s peer support program, connects you to opportunities and individuals eager to help you explore new business models, be more profitable, and help solve those big challenges.

Together we’re building a professional and personal network of women succeeding in business.

For over twenty-five years, NLOWE has fostered a community of business women across Newfoundland and Labrador and created a space where our members feel connected, validated, and appreciated. As a result, we have a diverse membership reflecting women entrepreneurs’ advancement. This membership of inspiring, empowering, and supporting women uplifts NLOWE as we continue to represent the interests of women and work diligently to overcome barriers. We celebrate all the successes while recognizing that there is still much more to do.

Over the next twenty-five years, NLOWE will continue working for you, unlocking new opportunities and program offerings, bringing even more value to your membership. You’ll be amazed at the resources and savings your annual membership can provide, and we can’t wait to welcome you!

Jennifer Bessell is the Chief Executive Officer at NLOWE. Jennifer is also the current Vice-Chair of the Women’s Enterprise Organizations of Canada (WEOC), a volunteer with Junior Achievement of NL, a board member with Women in Science and Engineering Newfoundland and Labrador (WISE-NL), and a member of the Women Presidents Organization (WPO). Jennifer is passionate about lifelong learning and helping others achieve success in their professional endeavours. She considers coaching and mentoring a responsibility of leadership. Jennifer is driven to help women and youth realize their potential and be successful in their journey as entrepreneurs.
